Monthly Meetup

may 6th, 7pm @ boulders on broadway

Just two weeks until our second meeting! I hope you’ve been letting people know how much fun the last meeting was, because this one is going to be even better. I am proud to announce that we’ll have our first guest speaker:

featured speaker

Steve Swink

Recently named as one of Gamasutra’s Top 50 Game Developers, Steve Swink has captured the eye of an industry. He’s been a designer on a spectrum of projects from Tony Hawk Underground to several    independent titles at Flashbang Studios in Tempe, AZ. More recently, he helped create Enemy Airship, an independent game studio working on Shadow Physics.

Not only a designer, Steve co-coordinates the Independent Game Festival, and the Independent Game Summit at the Game Developer’s Conference each year. He’s also written a book about tactile sensation in games called Game Feel. Many may also recognize him as a professor at the Art Institute of Phoenix, where he teaches game and level design.

Ethical Game Design

The choices we make as designers, the inherent value of human activity, and the personal belief systems the drive it all.

We’ll have a lot of time to mix and mingle before and after the presentation. In addition, there will be a vote for our Board of Directors (voting for IGDA members only). It’s all happening on May 6th! I’ll see you there.
