First Meeting Success!

What a great turnout, I counted just over 40 people! It’s safe to say we all met with a lot of cool people, shared a few drinks with some old friends and had an awesome time. I thought Boulders on Broadway worked out great, the food I had was delicious and can’t complain about half price bottle on Thursdays, right? For anyone that missed out, fear not! Our second meeting is already scheduled….

next meeting

May 6th, 7PM @ Boulders on Broadway

Things you may have missed at the last meeting…

RAjam

That’s right folks. Our first Game Jam as a chapter will be hosted by Retro Affect in just two weeks.

  • Doors open on Friday, April 23rd at 5PM and don’t close until the following Sunday!
  • Tickets are on sale now, and space is limited so if you want one, you should get one now. Buy them here.
  • What is a game jam you ask? An event where designers, engineers and artists get together and pound out some games in 48 hours. Here’s a great reference if you’re not sure what it’s all about (the good part begins at 1.40). Participants get to be involved with some really cool projects, walk away with something tangible at the end of an amazing weekend, and probably learn more than a few things along the way.
  • A ticket guarantees you a place to work, some snacks and some drinks for the weekend.
  • Make sure you bring whatever tools you might need for the weekend (your computer, your tablet, a power strip, your security blanket, etc.).
  • Send me an email with any questions you might have!

The Phoenix Arcade Cabinet (tentatively titled)

Inspired by the Hand Eye Society in Toronto, we’re going to build a custom arcade cabinet to house some local game developer talent. We’ll then bring it down to the gallery district and have it on display at various bars and events (First Friday Artwalk, anyone?). Work has already begun, but it is far from over. We’ll need some savvy people in every trade to help on this project. Send me an email!

Our Board of Directors

If you weren’t able to attend the last meeting and you want to be involved on the Board of Directors, then you’re off to a bad start! Just kidding! Send me an email and I’ll fill you in on what it’s all about.
